Version 1.6

 11 Nov 2005

1.  Product Description

This Release Note describes the features, enhancements, and corrections to Version 1.6 of the Web Training Management System (WTMS).

2.  New Features

The following enhancements were made to the WTMS with this release:

Gradesheet

  • The Started/Needed course lists have now been merged into a single display.  The course that are needed are now driven by a significantly enhanced management system for phase training and retro training.  The courses no longer drop off the list when the time they should have completed has passed.  The number of days remaining to complete the phase or retro training requirement are displayed and when past due, the number of days past due are shown in a highlighted manner.
  • A significant new capability has been added to the TMS to support Mission Readiness Training.  This appears on the main gradesheet page under the Courses section with a heading of Checklists.  Selecting the Assigned Checklist option will display any checklist assigned to a person and allow assigning the checklists.  Checklists are defined and managed via the Checklist tab but do have restricted access.  Checklists consist of events that can be completed either by a write-up or based on a lesson or course completion.  Support exists for both HQ AMC mandated checklists and local additions.  More Info...
  • Selecting of a person for the gradesheet and in other areas of the TMS has also been improved.  The Find function will find anyone in the TMS meeting the entered name whether they are in your filter selections or not.  The Display List button will display all personnel meeting your filter criteria in a drop down list.  The Display List option can be set as the default in the Change Search portion of the Person Filter.  Note that this option can severely impact performance.  More Info...
  • Some of the general comment text was obscured when a student would view them.  This has been corrected to display the complete comment correctly.
  • A field called Student Source was added to the Personal Info page to support the AGEP survey and other special reporting needs.
  • The Completed Course list was enclosed in a scroll list to allow easier navigation to the lessons when a course is selected.
  • The capability to delete General Comments has been added with certain restrictions.  The comment can only be deleted by the person originally entering the comment and must be deleted within 24 hours of entry.  The comment can not be deleted if it has been reviewed by anyone else.  The same rules apply to whether a comment can be changed once saved.  Note the capability to add additional information to the comment still remains.
  • The display of the General Comments will now default to the 5 most recent entries.  All comments can be displayed by selecting the ...More action.  A printer icon is also displayed.  Clicking this will print the comments with out printing the remainder of the screen.

Reports

  • The AGEP Roster report was added to show students meeting the criteria for needing an AGEP survey.
  • The Objective Performance, Lesson Performance, and Grade Distribution reports were all enhanced to allow use of the Student Source field as part of the selection criteria.
  • Added an option to the Flying Schedule report to show sets with or without registered students.
  • The Resource Unit Schedule report has a new field identifying which squadron the scheduled event is allocated to if any.
  • Added the Objective Progression Report.  This report list each objective in the given course showing the days and training activity where it is used.  The required grade is also displayed.
  • Added the Checklist Completion report to support the addition of the new Checklist feature (under Gradesheet).
  • The Course Progress report now shows the total number of people who have and have not completed each lesson.  Similarly, the Course Completion Matrix report also has the total number of people completing each course at the bottom.
  • The Phase Training report has also been improved.  The training requirements to report on can be selected to isolate the report to just those people still needing the training.  This report also has a summary section at the top showing each course and the number of people in each squadron still needing to complete that course.

Training Review

  • Training Review has a new Email option.  This allows you to save your review criteria along with the frequency to send email reminders.  An email will then be automatically sent with a reminder to do the review, a link to that review, and a list of the personnel needing review.

General

  • All base references have been changed to use the ICAO designators.  For example, McChord used to be referred to as MAFB and TCM is now used.
  • The time remaining before your session will be timed out is now displayed at the bottom of the screen.  A popup box will alert you when two minutes remain before the website will terminate your session.
  • A Squadron/Wing/Base hierarchy has been added to the TMS.  This can be used within the Person Filter to select personnel for reports.
  • Nearly every display or list that includes the course id and the title or description for a course have been changed.  The title will display first followed the the course id.
  • The top graphic has been removed from most pages to improve general performance and to provide a greater viewing area for the initial display of a page.
  • The phone numbers for the Boeing site administrators has been added to the About the Portal tab on the main Home page.  These personnel can assist with obtaining your external access ids or with problems with passwords and other issues.  Contact them for a more timely resolution to access problems.
  • The ability to bookmark pages is now supported on both the internal and external websites.  Previously it was available only on the external.

3.  Fixes

The following corrections were made in this release of the WTMS:

Gradesheet

  • Some of the general comment text was obscured when a student would view them.  This has been corrected to display the complete comment correctly.
  • The first name field of the Personal Info page has been increased.  The previous field was too short to handle some names.
  • Corrected an error in the Personal Info screen that would cause an abort when bad data was inadvertently entered into the AC Experience screen.
  • Entering of comment data that had certain HTML tags in it.  If entry is allowed they can open the TMS up to a hacker.  Instead of aborting when these are detected, the user is now warned so they can change the text.
  • An error was corrected that would not allow a lesson to be graded non-standard when the lesson has no objectives.
  • Under certain circumstances performance data was being saved under a different student than the one actually being graded.  This occurred when the "Open in New Window" option was selected.  The TMS has been modified to record this under the correct student.  Note that all such occurrences have been regularly checked for and corrected so all data previously entered is ok.

Reports

  • Corrected the Mission Readiness report so that N/T objectives no longer show as a failure.

General

  • Changes were made throughout the application to improve the displays when using a browser other than Internet Explorer (i.e. Netscape, Firefox).
  • Corrected the Calendar where an abort would occur saving a new calendar definition.
  • A correction was made when changing the contract number for a DAL code.  These were previously ignored but are not correctly changed.
  • An error was corrected when displaying the messages.  Previously a message would display even though it's expiration date had passed.  These no longer display.
  • A problem where a Calendar administrator could not add another administrator has been corrected.
  • Corrected an error innate to the TMS database that limited the number of sites we could support.  This was corrected to allow support for 50 separate sites and to allow an easy increase should the need arise.
