Web Training Management
System (WTMS)
Version 1.2
14
Apr 2004
1. Product Description
This Release Note describes the features, enhancements, and corrections to
Version 1.2 of the Web Training Management System (WTMS).
2. New Features
The following enhancements were made to the WTMS with this release:
- Added online help capability to many pages. This help is available
by clicking on the
icon.
This will initially open with help related to the current page, but
navigation links are available to all help.
- Added an user access group called AF Sortie Writeups. This will allow
group members such as aircraft commanders to do write-ups on flights for other
crew members.
- A Squadron Roster report was added. This report allows you to
select one or more squadrons and it lists all active members of the
squadron along with the user access groups they are a member of.
- Added a user access group called AF TMS Administrator that allows limited
changing of the personal information for other users. This will allow
squadron/wing personnel to add or remove people from the squadron and manage
user access group membership for
the AF Sortie Writeups, AF Instructor, and AF Reviewer groups.
- An extensive message system has been added to facilitate general
announcements. This allows users with the
correct rights to send an announcement
to a group of users (determined by selecting locations, categories, and
groups). All users will be taken to the message page when first
entering the website if they have unread messages. Messages can be
selected at any time from the TMS page. Users can read the message and
optionally delete it from their list. A record is kept of messages
sent and who has read them.
More Info...
- You can now have a favorite or bookmark saved to the main tab pages on
the website when accessing using the AccessTo Gateway (formerly called CITIS).
This allows you to mark the Gradesheet page for example. When
selecting the saved favorite you will be prompted for the AccessTo logon but
after logging in you will go direct to the Gradesheet page.
- Significant changes were made to the person selection to improve
performance. It is suggested that the details of the person filter be
reviewed to achieve the best performance possible. In general, use the
Find instead of the drop down list for optimum performance.
More Info...
- Other performance improvements have been made thanks to user feedback.
The response when selecting a person, type of course, course, and the lesson
to grade have been reduced significantly.
- Based on user feedback many of the text based links/actions have been
changed to buttons to make them more recognizable.
- The display and behavior of the worksheet objectives have been changed.
The grade achieved on the previous performance is now displayed in a
separate column from the grade being entered. This allows recording of
the performance of an objective when it was at the same level as the earlier
attempt. A non-standard worksheet objective will also now allow a
non-standard lesson grade.
- The ability for authorized users to reset the password for other users
was added with this release.
- Support for a Schedule View was added to the Gradesheet. Similar
to the existing TMS this allows an instructor to select a lesson based on
their scheduled events. The lesson can be graded, marked complete, or
a different student assigned from this display.
- The timeout period for a page has been increased from 20 minutes to 60
minutes. This was requested as some write-ups were taking more than
the allowed 20 minutes. You must interact with the web server during
this period to keep your connection. For example, when grading a
lesson clicking between General and Comments will reset this time.
3. Fixes
The following corrections were made in this
release of the WTMS:
- In several areas of the WTMS a click would
result in the save being performed twice. This has been corrected to
ignore subsequent clicks while the first is being processed.
- Several areas of the website were modified
to better support document display and upload. These would previously
have problems when certain special characters were used in the file name.
- Corrected an abort on the Refly Statistics
report. The default date range for this report was changed to use the
past two weeks instead of using dates in the future.
- Corrected an abort on the Resource Unit
Schedule report that occurred when no location was selected.
- A correction was made when updating
personal information that caused the Groups and Locations for the user to be
lost. This had been disabled in the previous release pending this fix.
- The Instructor Schedule report was fixed to
show the correct name in the page header when the person selected was an
observer or student on the first event displayed.
- Several links to the Portal Home have been
fixed to properly return to the main portal display page.
- Several reports were corrected to check for
a selected location prior to generating the report.
- The Mission Readiness report incorrectly
displayed some objectives as a failure. This report has been
corrected.
- Changing the date on the Needed Course list
was previously ignored. This now updates the needed courses based on
the date entered allowing, for example, the last quarter's needed courses to
be displayed and selected.
- Reports would occasionally give an error
stating "sql parameters already exist in collection". This has been
corrected.
