This page is used to enter or modify an individual event. The page
image and the following explanations are provided to assist in the entering or
modification of an event.

- Calendar - Select the calendar this event belongs to. The calendar
controls who can see the event, the icon displayed, and other features of
the event.
- Name - A brief name or description for the event that will be displayed
on the calendar for the event.
- Description - More information or details for the event. This is
displayed when the user hovers their mouse over the event on the calendar
display.
- Start Date/End Date - This is the starting date and time for the event
and the ending date and time. Please see the discussion on Spanning
for how these are used.
- Link - An optional URL can be entered here. This will cause the
event Name to be rendered as a hyperlink to the URL provided. Note
that URLs internal to the Boeing intranet should not be used for an event
that is viewable by users external to Boeing.
- Target - The link target for the URL. Normally this should be
"_blank" causing the link to open a new browser window.
- Spanning - Specifies the type of event. When checked, the event is
a spanning event and is displayed as a blue bar from the start date and time
to the end date and time. The name display of the event goes from the
start date to the end date. The Spanning Event Sample below
illustrates a spanning event with a start date and time of 04 Oct 04 8:00 AM
and an end date and time of 06 Oct 04 5:00 PM. Not checking the
Spanning box will result in a different display as shown by the Nonspanning
Event Sample below. In this case, the event is displayed in each date
within the date range with the start and end times also displayed for each
date.

- Repeat - Check this box if the event is a repeating event. A
repeating event allows a single event definition to recur multiple times in
the calendar display. Note that if you enter the information for the
type of repeating event and fail to check this box, the information will be
discarded. The repeat information is only stored if this box is
checked. By default the event will repeat indefinitely. The end
of the repeat cycle can be specified using the Repeat End Occurrences or
Repeat End Date (see below).
- Daily -
The daily
repeat supports two options. The first is to repeat the event every N
days. An event starting on day 1 with a repeat of every 3 days would
be displayed on 1, 4, 7, 10, etc. The second option is to repeat it
Every Weekday (Monday through Friday).
- Weekly -
When
defining a weekly repeat event you provide the weeks to repeat the event.
A value of 1 will display the event every week, a value of 2 will display
the event every other week, a value of 3 will display the event every third
week, etc. You also check the day of the week the event should repeat
on. The event will display on the day of the week selected on or after
the event start date until the repetition is terminated.
- Monthly -
Two options
also exist for monthly repeats. With the first, the day of the month
is provided. If the day of the month is beyond the last day of the
month, the last day of the month is used (for example, if 31 is entered,
November 30 will be used. The bottom option provides more flexibility.
The first dropdown list allows you to select from a list of first, second,
third, fourth, or last. The second dropdown lists allows selection of
day, weekend day, weekday, or each day of the week. Thus you can
select to schedule an event on the first weekday of a month to avoid having
the event occur on a weekend. In both cases, you can tell it to repeat
at every N month intervals similar to the weekly and daily options.
- Yearly -
Yearly events
can be defined to occur on the specified month and day every year.
Alternatively, the dropdown lists can be used similar to a monthly repeat to
specify the day within the month to use. An event such as New Years
Party could be specified as December 31 while an event of Labor Day Picnic
would be specified as the first Monday of September.
- Repeat End Occurrences - As stated earlier, the event will repeat
indefinitely unless a termination is provided. This field is used to
terminate the repetition after so many occurrences. Providing a value
of 3 will cause only 3 events to be displayed.
- Repeat End Date - With this option the repeat cycle is terminated after
the last occurrence on or before the given date.
A specific event generated from a repeat event can also be modified.
When one of these are selected to be changed the display includes the start and
end dates and times of this occurrence of the event as a display only. On
the left, a check box is displayed for "Apply to this day only". A new
start and end date and time can be entered and when this box is checked it is
applied only to this occurrence of the repeating event. Similarly,
the Delete button will normally delete an entire event. When the "Apply to
this day only" is checked on this occurrence of the repeating event is deleted.
